For the third time in four seasons, the Kansas City Chiefs are headed to the Super Bowl, and fans can’t wait to see them try and record an upset win over the Philadelphia Eagles. The Chief’s offense is loaded, and people can’t wait to see which guys are celebrating in the end zone. This piece looks at the NFL Super Bowl prop bets for Chiefs anytime touchdown scorers. Who will end up putting up a TD?
Travis Kelce has strong odds of scoring in the Super Bowl
• Super Bowl 2023: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles • Sunday, February 12th at 6:30 p.m. ET • State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona
As you probably could have guessed, Travis Kelce has strong odds to score in the Super Bowl, as he’s been on a tear this season. Inarguably one of the best tight ends in the league, Kelce is coming off a strong performance in the AFC Championship Game, as he hauled in seven receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown. Those are the numbers you’d expect from him.
With Tyreek Hill being traded to the Miami Dolphins last offseason, Kelce solidified himself even further as the No. 1 target for Patrick Mahomes. The two have a connection that isn’t matched not only in the AFC but in the entire NFL, for that matter. With Kelce and Mahomes playing so well, the Chiefs earned the No. 1 seed in the AFC and have been able to take down the Jaguars and Bengals on consecutive weekends.
Now with the Lombardi Trophy on the line, Kelce will be looked at even more to be a reliable option for Mahomes against the stingy Eagles’ secondary and defense. The defensive backs and linebackers will be focused on slowing down No. 87, but we don’t have to tell you that it’s going to be quite tough for the Eagles players to do that.
According to the best-rated sportsbooks, Kelce holds -120 NFL betting odds to score in the Super Bowl. The way he’s been playing, we truly feel it will be a shocker if Kelce doesn’t score at least one touchdown in this one against Philly. We wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up scoring twice. Because of this, we’re going with Kelce to score as our pick. Agree? Check out our best NFL betting sites to get a wager in.
Kadarius Toney can’t be trusted to score in the Super Bowl
Elsewhere, we have to go ahead and state that Kadarius Toney can’t be trusted to score in the Super Bowl. A former first-round pick of the New York Giants, Toney was brought in via a trade early in the season, and fans were excited about his potential to make plays with Mahomes. However, Toney, as has been the case early on in his career, has battled injuries since the moment he arrived at Arrowhead Stadium.
In the AFC Championship Game win over the Bengals, Toney not only dropped a touchdown pass from Mahomes but also hurt his ankle and was ruled out for the rest of the game. This was disappointing, but luckily for head coach Andy Reid and the rest of his staff, Mahomes was able to make plays late to help set up the game-winning kick by Harrison Butker.
Looking ahead to the Super Bowl, it’s clear that Toney isn’t going to be at 100 percent for this matchup. At this point, it wouldn’t be surprising if he doesn’t end up playing or if Reid decided to put him on a snap count. The talent level isn’t the issue for Toney – instead, it’s the fact that he can’t seem to stay healthy for an extended period, which is frustrating.
According to the oddsmakers, Toney holds +200 Super Bowl betting odds to score vs. Philly. We’d love for him to overcome this adversity and make a difference for the Chiefs, but we don’t see it happening in this case. He’s a young talent, but the hope is with a full offseason, he can finally get himself close to 100 percent. When it comes to us making a pick, we’re going against Toney scoring.
Marquez Valdes-Scantling has a great chance to score
Lastly, for the Chiefs, Marquez Valdes-Scantling has a great chance to score, as he’s coming off a huge performance in the AFC title game. With the trip to the Super Bowl on the line, Valdes-Scantling was a rockstar, posting six receptions for 116 yards and a touchdown. In the past, drops have hurt Valdes scantling’s game, but he’s been steady of late.
After catching passes from Aaron Rodgers, Valdes-Scantling is now doing so from Mahomes, and the two look great together. What’s really going to help Valdes scantling’s chances of scoring a TD against the Eagles is that the Philly defense is surely going to be focused on trying to contain Kelce.
This could end up opening some more doors for the wideout. Valdes-Scantling may not be considered a star WR in this league, but he’s shown great improvements throughout the 2022 campaign. He holds +250 odds to score a TD. We think he’ll do so. Agree? Check out our best NFL betting sites to get a wager in.
