It’s tough to believe, but the second-to-last week of action for the National Football League regular season is here. The drama is through the roof, and some teams will be playing for their postseason lives in the coming days. Who will end up delivering for their passionate fanbases? In this piece, we have NFL Week 17 odds for the 2022 season for you to look at.
Giants are favorites to take down the Colts
• New York Giants vs. Indianapolis Colts • Sunday , January 1st at 1ET • MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey
In a New Year’s Day showdown, the Giants are favorites to take down the Colts at MetLife Stadium. This is a must-win game for the Giants. There are zero excuses for this team, especially with this contest being played in East Rutherford. The MetLife fans will pack the place to try and help out Big Blue.
The Giants started the season so hot, going 6-1 in their first seven games. However, things have gotten off track, and New York hasn’t looked the same. They’ve exceeded expectations, but the late-season flop is something the squad’s supporters are not happy about. It’ll be on Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley, and Brian Daboll to come through.
Meanwhile, for the Colts, the Matt Ryan experiment hasn’t gone too well for them. The veteran quarterback is expected to retire at the end of the season, but countless people in Indy want this guy to stop running the offense as soon as possible. Jonathan Taylor is one of the best running backs in the league, and he’ll have to put up a strong game to keep the Colts close.
According to the best-rated sportsbooks, which includes the reliable Bovada review, the Giants have been given -145 NFL betting odds to record a win. There isn’t much faith in the Colts, as they’ve been set at +185. From our chair, we think Jones and Barkley will dominate the Indy defense. We’re going with NY as our pick to win. Agree? The Chiefs will have no issues going up against Denver
In what should be a fun AFC West matchup, the Chiefs will have no issues going up against Denver. Entering the season, both of these teams had strong Super Bowl odds, but they’ve traveled in very different directions throughout the 2022 season. Kansas City has been spectacular, with Patrick Mahomes leading the way. The same can’t be said for Denver.
Quarterback Russell Wilson was traded to the Broncos and then signed one of the richest deals in NFL history. He hasn’t gotten the job done for this team and is the main reason they won’t make the playoffs. Denver not making the postseason this year is something that no one expected, but this team has looked terrible at the end of the day.
The Chiefs don’t have to worry about this, as Mahomes has his eyes set on winning his second Super Bowl. The star quarterback is the front-runner to win MVP as well, with him and Philly QB Jalen Hurts holding the top betting odds. Mahomes very well could end up winning MVP and another Lombardi Trophy this year. That’d be special to see for him.
According to the oddsmakers, the Chiefs have been set at -240 for this game, with the Broncos and Wilson at +250. We think there’s no way that the Broncos will be able to post a victory, especially with this game being played in Kansas City. It could be a long day for the Denver defense, as Mahomes will be jacked up. The Chiefs are our pick.
Lastly, for exciting contests, the Packers will hope to stun the Vikings in Week 17. This is a must-win game for the Packers, especially with only one game left in the regular season after this one. Unfortunately for Green Bay and Aaron Rodgers, they’re going up against the mighty Minnesota Vikings, who have been incredibly strong this year in the NFC.
Led by quarterback Kirk Cousins, Dalvin Cook, and Justin Jefferson, the Vikings have been so dominant on offense, and opposing defenses have had a difficult job trying to prevent them from scoring. The pressure will be on the Green Bay defense to try and get something done, but the loss of pass-rusher Rashan Gary for the rest of the season has hurt them.
On offense for the Packers, Rodgers will have to be near-perfect in this one. Rookie Christian Watson has looked fantastic late in the season, and more strong play will be needed from him to help this team win. The Vikings are the favorites to win, with -120 odds. The Packers hold +145 odds. We think an upset is coming, as we’re going with the Packers as our pick.
