This Sunday sees the penultimate race of the 2022 Formula 1 season taking place in Brazil, and with Max Verstappen looking for what could be his 15th win of the season, we look ahead to the race with our Brazilian Grand Prix F1 betting picks.
Verstappen is the world champion, and he and his Red Bull team are really starting to rub the noses of their rivals in the dirt. Two Sundays ago in Round 20 of the 2022 F1 season, Verstappen cruised to a win in the Mexican Grand Prix, securing his 14th win of an already outstanding season.
The win was also record-breaking as Verstappen became the first man to win 14 races in a single season. So with two races left this season, it’s pretty clear that Red Bull and the now two-time world champion Verstappen will be looking for wins number 15 and 16, to extend the record even further.

Who is favorite to win the 2022 Brazilian Grand Prix?
As is the case every weekend there is a Grand Prix, the best Formula 1 betting sites make Max Verstappen their overwhelming favorite. This weekend the Dutchman is -210 to win the race with BetOnline. For the race in Mexico, Verstappen was -175, so his odds have shortened further.
The same bookmaker also makes Charles Leclerc second in the betting at +550, with Lewis Hamilton at +650. Up until recently, there has been a far larger gap between Leclerc and the Mercedes driver in the betting, so the closing of the gap shows that there has been a shift in the performances of both teams. Ferrari seems to be going backward, whilst Mercedes have been slowly improving.
In the betting to win the driver’s championship without Verstappen, BetOnline has Sergio Perez as their -150 favorite. Charles Leclerc is +120. You can read more about this bookmaker in our BetOnline sportsbook review.
Can Lewis Hamilton secure a win in 2022?
In his career to date, Lewis Hamilton has won a race in every season. So with just two races remaining this season, this record is now under serious threat. As we alluded to above, Red Bull is almost goading their opponents, and they would probably love nothing more than to secure lockouts against Hamilton and his Mercedes team in the final two races of the season.
There is some cause for optimism for Hamilton, albeit, very small. Hamilton and his Mercedes team were again more competitive in Mexico. But as we’ve pointed out in our previous previews, they are still needing mistakes from Verstappen and Red Bull, which just haven’t been coming in recent weeks. Hamilton did finish second in Mexico City, but the honest truth is that Verstappen’s win was never really in any doubt.
Also going in favor of Hamiton is his record at this circuit. Hamilton has won here three times previously, with probably the best of his victories coming 12 months ago, when he was demoted to 10th on the grid, but drove a spectacular race to take the win and wrestle the 2021 world championship initiative back from Verstappen.
Whether that has any relevance this year, remains to be seen. It was tight between the two teams and drivers in 2021. It has been anything but in 2022.
Brazilian Grand Prix Betting Picks
Right, it’s that time again. Do we back Max Verstappen, or do we look elsewhere for value? The truth of the matter is that it’s impossible to pick anybody else to win, but at best Vegas odds of -210, surely Verstappen is too short?
In the top 3 finish betting, Leclerc is -170, Hamilton -160, and Perez is -120. George Russell at +150 and Carlos Sainz at +175 are the only two of the top six drivers who are odds against.
Lewis Hamilton has finished second in both Mexico and the US in the last two races. So I’m going to go with him for a top 3 finish for one of my picks, although I’m mindful that his odds aren’t much different from that of Verstappen winning the race.
Lewis Hamilton Top 3 Finish2022 Brazilian Grand Prix
I’m also going to go for a longer shot bet this week. Surely, someone else has to win one of the two remaining races? So at odds of +400, I’m going to pick Mercedes to be the winning team in Brazil this weekend. That gives us the win if either Lewis Hamilton or George Russell claims the checkered flag.
