This is going to be talked about for a while. With the NFL and NCAA football back in our lives and in the heart of their respective seasons, one fan decided to turn plenty of heads with some big-time bets. That’s right, and it has been reported that a Las Vegas bettor made 21 total six-figure bets on football this month, and while he suffered some losses, he ended up winning money overall.
According to a report from the Las Vegas Review-Journal, more than 20 bets of at least $100,000 were put down on the NCAA/NFL, including a $330,000 on Alabama covering a 17-point spread against Arkansas. The Crimson Tide went on to win that game 49-26, meaning the bettor came out on top at the MGM Resorts. MGM Director Lamarr Mitchell was blown away by the bets but in a good way.
“He had a perfect day with us (Saturday). He beat us pretty good,” Mitchell said on the bettor’s massive betting weekend on some of the biggest football action that weekend. “But we beat him (Sunday). We love having big players like that. If he’s our only one, it will not always be a good result. But if we have multiple players like that, it balances out.”
While all the bets weren’t made public, millions of dollars were bet on a football weekend. Imagine having that kind of luxury to place those kinds of wagers. As Mitchell noted, there will always be a ton of big money laid down for football action at the MGM Resorts. With Vegas bringing in so many visitors, MGM surely isn’t the only place receiving so many bets.
Football season is bringing in huge numbers for Vegas thus far
Per a different report, there’s no question that football season is bringing in huge numbers for Vegas thus far. While the exact figures aren’t in just yet, the year-over-year numbers for the first two months or so of the football campaign have seen a spike in Sin City. This has to have people excited for two reasons. No. 1, it means that the matchups have been incredibly intriguing.
No. 2, this is always great news for the sportsbooks and resorts, as this means people are taking advantage of all the available Las Vegas betting odds, and they’re not hesitating in getting in on the action. When it comes to the NFL betting odds, we already see a lot of movement for different teams thanks to so many different upsets.
Who would have guessed that the New York Giants would be 5-1 after six games? Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Eagles are 6-0 and have seen their Super Bowl odds skyrocket. This is leading to plenty of bets on them to win it all, and more will surely be on the way. For Las Vegas, Super Bowl betting will always be a hot topic.
On top of that, betting on the NCAA is also a lot of fun, and futures bets are coming in hot. Alabama is always in the mix, but they just suffered a stunning loss to Tennessee. With that, their number has dropped, but keep an eye on Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, and others. Fans of these teams won’t waste a second in placing bets on them, which we saw from the bettor who dropped his 21 wagers this month. Goodness.
MLB postseason betting is also hot in Las Vegas
Lastly, don’t forget that MLB postseason betting is also hot in Las Vegas, and that’s going to be the case over the next few weeks. We’ve reached the ALCS And NLCS, with the New York Yankees, Houston Astros, San Diego Padres, and Philadelphia Phillies in the mix to try and win it all. As you might have been able to imagine, the highest number of Fall Classic futures bets have gone on the Astros, who are playing red-hot ball this postseason.
As things stand, Houston holds the top World Series betting odds. They’re expected to take care of business against the Yankees in the ALCS. Should that be the case, it will be on the Phillies or Padres to try and upset them in the last series of the year. Remember that in the NLDS, the Padres stunned the Dodgers, while the Phillies recorded the shocking win over Atlanta. Both the Dodgers and Braves were expected to move on.
That said, you can expect some impressive MLB betting numbers to be recorded throughout the rest of the fall. Both the NFL and MLB have seen plenty of bets, and now that the NBA and NHL have launched their seasons too, this only means more good news and more money exchanged for bettors. You’ve simply got to love this time of the year.
