Nascar is back this weekend, as we head to South Carolina for the Darlington 400. Normally bettors would have the driver’s practice runs and qualifying runs to size up the filed before the main event on Sunday, May 17.
Let’s have a look at the current Darlington 400 betting odds.
The Darlington 400 will start at 3:30 pm (EST), with 40 of NASCAR’s best drivers taking to the track for the first time since quarantine began. Due to the new safety protocols surrounding the event, it has cancelled out any pre-race action and limited race teams to drivers and essential staff at the track.
While there are many changes, NASCAR is back and when the rubber his the road, we can expect the usual electrifying energy of the greatest motorsport in the world.
Kyle Busch (+500)
Kyle comes into this one at +500 in the oddsmaker’s eyes, as he will look to take the checkered flag once again. While he is certainly the favourite, he’s been unlucky at Darlington recently.
He picked up third, seventh and second-place finishes in his last three runs at the South Carolina track.
Kyle Busch has had a slow start to the season, picking up a disappointing 21st place finish at the start of the season at Daytona. Then he bounced back at Las Vegas and Fontana, finishing 5th and 3rd respectively. We can see him turning up on Sunday.
Denny Hamlin had the perfect start to the season, picking up the win at the Daytona 500 at odds of +900. He also drove well in Fontana, picking up a sixth-place finish.
But, other than that he’s not really dazzled us. He’ll still have aspirations of taking the title this year, and the bookies still have him as one of the favourites.
His position at Las Vegas and Phoenix leave the little to be desired, finishing 17th and 20th, respectively. But it’s Denny Hamlin and he can do anything on the day, so he remains a popular pick among bettors.
Take Denny Hamlin to make it to the podium: +185 at BetOnline.
Erik Jones is our outside shot at +1800 in the latest Darlington 400 NASCAR odds. We think he’s worth a punt at these odds and for those that need a dog to play on, he’s your guy.
At 23-years of age, Jones has enjoyed a steady NASCAR career. He’s won just two career Cup Series titles and has an average finish position of 19.75 this season.
However, it’s the track that gives him the edge. He won the 2019 NASCAR at Darlington, leading 79 laps. He also finished eighth in 2018 and fifth in 2017 and we think he’ll fancy his chances again on Sunday.
Erik Jones is a risky bet. If you think he will finish regularly among the top racers, you might want to bet that Erik will win it all: +3300 at GTBets.
