We are seeing an unreal amount of bets being placed thanks to the start of the National Football League campaign. This of course means big news for the sportsbooks over in Sin City, as the in-person bets are flying as well. Per a report, Vegas sportsbooks are cleaning up with NFL wins, as the outlets put up some big numbers thanks to a popular Week 1.
Indeed, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that the local sportsbooks recorded huge numbers, with the BetMGM sportsbooks recording a win over more than $1 million alone. That’s a huge loss for the local bettors but great news for BetMGM. The fact that people lost so much money isn’t much of a surprise, as we saw some stunning results.
The upsets posted included the Tennessee Titans losing to the New York Giants. The Titans were expected to dominate New York and record a big win to open the season. That wasn’t the case, as the Giants posted their 21-20 victory thanks to a late touchdown pass from Daniel Jones, which was capped off with a two-point conversion to win it.
Not only that, but the Steelers took down the Bengals, and the Bears also beat the San Francisco 49ers. Both the Steelers and Bears were big-time underdogs and had lower NFL betting odds, with a lot of people betting on Cincinnati and San Francisco, respectively. With people betting big on those teams, plus Tennessee, the upsets meant a lot of money was lost. With this, it meant nothing but good news for Vegas as a whole.
Big numbers from Week 2 should be reported soon too
While Week 1 was something, big numbers from Week 2 should be reported soon too. There were some more upsets recorded this past weekend, highlighted by the Miami Dolphins pulling off a stunner in Baltimore. The Ravens were expected to cruise to a big-time win over the Dolphins and early on, things were heading in that direction for this one.
However, a late comeback from Tua Tagovailoa, who tossed for six touchdowns, was unreal to see. The Dolphins were able to win this one thanks to a late touchdown pass from Tagovailoa to Jaylen Waddle – the wideout caught two TD passes on the day, making his fantasy football owners happy. That loss for Baltimore will surely result in huge news for the sportsbooks, continuing the trend from the week before.
“The NFL strikes again in the unpredictability right off the bat,” Caesars Sportsbook executive Adam Pullen said via the Review-Journal. “The uncertainty of the NFL. That’s how it’s been for years, and it’s already throwing people for a loop. It’s hard to figure out.”
People can’t wait for the Week 2 numbers to arrive, and then there’s sure to be a surprise or two for Week 3. As Pullen eluded to, you just never know what might happen in the NFL each weekend. With so many upsets being recorded, it’s going to cost bettors a lot of dough, especially if they’re including several teams in parlays. That makes the NFL betting so fun but also brutal at times.
Super Bowl futures bets are flowing in right now
With two weeks of the NFL campaign in the books, Super Bowl futures bets are flowing in now. Fans out there are checking the best-rated sportsbooks, which includes the reliable Bovada review, to see which teams are on the rise and which teams are slipping. In terms of teams on the rise, you already know we’ve got to bring up the strong play of the Buffalo Bills.
The Bills entered the new campaign with the top Super Bowl odds, which remains the case. The Bills are looking like the best team in the NFL, as they opened the year with a strong win over the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams, and then they followed that up by crushing the Titans in Week 2. In that Monday Night Football win, Josh Allen was electric.
Allen currently leads the entire NFL with his eight touchdowns. With the Bills rocking on offense and defense, it has a lot of fans in Buffalo fired up about their chances of winning the Super Bowl. This team has had some bad luck in recent years, thanks to the Kansas City Chiefs, but it feels like things could be written in the stars for them this season. Will anyone be able to get in their way once early February rolls around?
That’s what fans are wondering, but it will be tough. Don’t count out the Chiefs, Packers, Bucs, Eagles, and more. With Kansas City, Patrick Mahomes is playing on a high level, too, as he and Allen figure to be in a battle for the MVP honor later this winter. It will only make things more and more interesting. We can’t wait to see how this all shapes out.
