With two weeks of the football season wrapped up already, we see some teams step things up in terms of standing out. On the other hand, other teams, including the Cincinnati Bengals, have been a major letdown. Things are only going to get more interesting the rest of the way. This piece has NFL AFC futures picks for the 2022 season. Which teams will end up winning their divisions?
Nothing will stop the Kansas City Chiefs from winning the AFC West
It goes without saying, but nothing will stop the Kansas City Chiefs from winning the AFC West this season. Yes, it’s one of the most loaded divisions in the NFL, but the Chiefs are 2-0 to start the season, and they’re really impressive. Not only that, but they pulled off quite the Week 2 win over the Chargers during Thursday Night Football, and it was awesome to see.
Some other teams haven’t lived up to the hype elsewhere in the division. Starting with the Denver Broncos, the offense for Denver has been a major disappointment in 2022, and no one was expecting that. This team was supposed to take the next step with Russell Wilson now in town, but that hasn’t been the case. They’ll need to wake up and fast.
As for the Raiders, they’re 0-2 to start the season. Like the Broncos, the offense hasn’t quite gotten to where it needs to be. This wasn’t supposed to be the case with Davante Adams now playing for the Raiders. He was held to two receptions for 12 yards in the Week 2 loss vs. the Cardinals. That can’t be the case moving forward for Adams in this offense.
With the Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes has this team rocking, and the fans are hoping to get to another Super Bowl. According to the best-rated sportsbooks, which includes the reliable Bovada review, the Chiefs hold -250 NFL betting odds to win the AFC West. From our chair, there’s no way they don’t get that job done. We’re going with the Chiefs as our pick.
The Bills are a lock to win the AFC East
Over in Buffalo, the Bills are a lock to win the AFC East this season. Goodness, the Bills are not only looking like serious threats in the AFC, but they hold the top Super Bowl betting odds for a good reason. Josh Allen is a front-runner to win MVP, and the offense is on another planet now. We saw how good they could be during Monday Night Football in Week 2.
Going up against the Tennessee Titans, the Bills were dominant. Allen finished with four touchdowns, with three going to Stefon Diggs. Diggs, somehow, continues to be overlooked as one of the best wideouts in the league. The fact that he had three touchdowns alone vs. Tennessee is something that has fans completely fired up.
Not only that, the Buffalo defense has looked spectacular too. The guys up front are playing well, and so is the secondary. People are excited about the Miami Dolphins in the AFC East thanks to their offense too, but they aren’t close to Buffalo yet. Allen and Tua Tagovailoa are strong QBs, but again, we have to give the edge here to the Bills and Allen.
Per the oddsmakers, the Bills hold -360 odds to win the AFC East, while the Dolphins are No. 2 behind them at +450. Don’t even think about going with the Patriots or Jets here, as these two teams don’t have a chance to get the job done. We believe in Allen and the Bills. They’re our pick. Agree? Elsewhere, we like the Ravens to win the AFC North this season. Many people thought the Bengals would be the ones to win the division, but Joe Burrow and Co. haven’t looked strong at all thus far. Meanwhile, Baltimore suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Dolphins in Week 2, but Lamar Jackson remains one of the most explosive QBs in the game.
With Jackson running the offense and tight end Mark Andrews continuing to ball out, this Baltimore team will always be one to watch. With the Bengals, you’ve got to figure that this team will get in order sooner than later. On top of Burrow, they feature playmakers like Joe Mixon and Ja’Marr Chase. Those guys won’t be held in check for too long.
The Steeler’s offense is a mess, though, and the same can be said for the Browns. Because of this, it’ll be a battle between the Ravens and Bengals to win the North. This could come down to the last week of the season, but we expect that Jackson will power his team back to the playoffs thanks to a division title. Yes, indeed, Baltimore is our pick.
