NBA Future Bets require absolutely no digging. Thanks to Bovada online sportsbook, however, there are always some different choices to examine even in August. The Boston Celtics found their way back to the top slott in the NBA odds. Granted, the NBA team was one of the great storylines in 2022. That was clear in their start, and then in the Final when they stretched Golden State to their limits. They were a great NBA Future Bets pick then and remain now as well. Why? Let’s take a look below at the why.
Now, the Celtics become an easy and trendy choice because they are honestly that good. Last season, they won 51 games en route to the second best record in the Eastern Conference. That mark might have been better if not for some late-season injuries. Boston ran wild through the East and even dethroned the defending champion, Milwaukee Bucks. Then, they weathered the storm to defeat the Miami Heat in seven grueling games.
So, the Boston Celtics went up two games to one on Golden State. There is little doubt that the Celtics looked like a better team but then Stephen Curry and the Warriors’ depth “went off”. Boston stretched them as far as they could but the Celtics just were too fatigued at the worst possible time. Golden State went on to win the 2022 NBA Title in six games. There was little shame in Boston losing. After all, they endured a far tougher road.
Consequently, NBA Future Bets focuses on the inevitable 2023 question. Can Boston win the NBA Championship? Could Golden State do it again or someone else? Here at VegasBetting, our NBA choices are below and a few to stay away from too.
Granted, the Boston NBA Future Bets had better value a couple of months ago. One never truly can underestimate Boston but again they were at +650 to +700 then. Now, they are in the +400 to +500 range. The Celtics have little value as of now. That is the reality of wagering on title futures. It does not take much for the pendulum to swing. Maybe, just maybe, a few injuries or a bad start could lengthen Boston’s numbers.
Now, the strangest thing is those persistent Kevin Durant rumors. There is this feeling that some Celtics players would not mind the mercurial player on their team. Most agree it might be a step backwards for Boston. Brad Stevens and management probably take the wise road and stay away from the current Brooklyn Net. The Celtics have a stacked roster.
Boston runs a higher-tempo offense off their strong defense. With players finding form and depth fully healthy, the Celtics expect to start off 2022-23 even better. There is a nice way of saying this Celtics team will be an odds-on favorite to win the East for good reason. Ime Oduka has a team with the number one overall defense in the league and a top-ten offense. That was even with the toughest strength of schedule.
Finally, Oduka has some of the best depth in the league by bunches. They scored 40+ in a quarter against Golden State in the Final. With Jayson Tatum fully healthy and a great supporting cast including defensive player of the year Marcus Smart, Boston will not back down. Frankly, home-court advantage for Boston is one of the league’s best and will only get better this year. The Boston title pick remains solid for NBA Futures Bets.
The NBA Future Bets asks the betting world the following. Could the Golden State Warriors repeat? They won the title last year. Sure, the Warriors started off quick but then they had their adversity before reeling off three straight wins to dispatch the Boston Celtics and win the NBA Title. Stephen Curry’s undying will led the Warriors to a fourth NBA Championship under Steve Kerr, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson.
Again, there were times when Golden State was the favorite title wise last year and at times where they had way more plus-money going for them. When the injuries took hold at one juncture, Golden State was easily in the +650 to +750 range. Guess where they are now? The Warriors are pretty close to that. It is funny how things work sometimes in a bettor’s favor.
Yes, few would be surprised with a rematch between Boston and Golden State for the 2023 NBA Title. Several pundits are expecting just that. Boston did have the inside-outside game that could test the Warriors.
For the NBA Future Bets, picking Golden State at +700 is not too bad. It may be a wager that works out once again just like last season.
Though the Los Angeles Clippers (+600) and Los Angeles Lakers (+1400) are trendy picks, stay away from LA is recommended. Why? They are two teams to keep on any radar but as constructed, do not have the tools to win an NBA Championship or the depth.
Instead of Los Angeles team, maybe look toward teams like Dallas, Memphis, etc. for value.
