Holy smokes, Week 1 of the National Football League campaign provided plenty of drama, as we saw some head-turning upsets. Could more of the same be on the way this weekend as well? That’s what plenty of fans are hoping for. In this article, we have NFL picks for Week 2 of the 2022 season. Which squads will be able to come away with a big win?
Giants are favorites to take down the Panthers
This week, the Giants are favorites to take down the Panthers when they meet at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Talk about an unreal Week 1 for the G-Men, as head coach Brian Daboll was able to record a win in his debut in dramatic fashion. The Giants were major underdogs going up against the Titans in Nashville, but they pulled out a 21-20 win.
In that victory, there were plenty of highs and lows for quarterback Daniel Jones, but he pulled off the necessary plays later to help his team record the win. Saquon Barkley was fantastic, as he reminded people of why he was the No. 2 overall pick not too long ago. Now, the Giants fans are hoping this team can start the season 2-0, with a win over Carolina this weekend needed.
For the Panthers, it was a Week 1 to forget for them, as they weren’t able to take down the Cleveland Browns. Despite having better NFL betting odds for that one, Carolina blew it and the ‘revenge game’ for Baker Mayfield didn’t go as planned. Now, Mayfield is going to try and take down Jones and Co. in what should be a memorable contest.
Per the best-rated sportsbooks, which includes the reliable Bovada review, the Giants are the favorites with their -130 odds. As for the Panthers, they’ve been set at +110. From our chair, we think New York will be able to once again get things done late, as we’re going with them as our pick to come out on top. Agree? Aaron Rodgers will look to make a statement against the Chicago Bears
For some Sunday Night Football action, Aaron Rodgers will look to make a statement against the Chicago Bears when they meet in primetime. Unfortunately for Rodgers, he himself had a Week 1 to forget going up against the Minnesota Vikings. In a game the Packers should have won, they couldn’t get anything going offensively and Rodgers was frustrated throughout.
Things started poorly for him when he dropped a perfect ball in the bread basket for rookie wideout Christian Watson. The ball hit Watson in the hands and then fell to the turf. It should have been a 75-yard touchdown, but Watson blew it. Rodgers couldn’t believe it and neither could Green Bay fans. That’s something that simply can’t happen.
Come Sunday night, though, Rodgers and the Packers will have the chance to get back on track against the Chicago Bears and Justin Fields. Chicago took down San Francisco in Week 1, with Fields outperforming fellow young quarterback Trey Lance. Things are going to be quite difficult for Lance this weekend, however, as Rodger is on another level.
According to the oddsmakers, the Packers are 9.5-point favorites and they have -114 odds to cover the spread. Rodgers was angry last week and it’s going to be on his receivers to step their game up to help him out. We think they’ll do just that, as we’re not only going with the Packers to win, but we’re also going with them to cover the spread too.
The Chiefs will take down the Chargers in a huge AFC West showdown
Last but not least, the Chiefs will take down the Chargers in a huge AFC West showdown on Sunday. Both these teams impressed in Week 1, as Kansas City was able to dominate Arizona, while the Chargers took down the Las Vegas Raiders despite a brilliant debut from wideout Davante Adams. Now, these two AFC powerhouses will do battle in Kansas City.
Obviously, people are going to be watching Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert. With Mahomes, a lot of the talk this offseason was that he’d be slowed down without Tyreek Hill making plays for him. Well, that notion was absurd and Mahomes made his haters look insane, as he tossed for five touchdowns on Sunday against the Cardinals. It was quite the performance.
As for Herbert, he’s also a fantastic signal-caller and Chargers fans loved seeing him throw the ball all over the field against Las Vegas. He’ll have an upset on his mind in Week 2, but that’s not going to be an easy task for him, as the Chiefs are quite tough to beat at home. KC holds -180 odds, which tells you that Vegas thinks they’ll record a win. We agree here, as we’re going with the Chiefs as our pick to win.
