MotoGP 2019 kicks off with the Grand Prix of Qatar on March 10 and ends with the Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana on Nov. 17. There are 19 races in total in the F.I.M. Bettors will have to decide if there’s any value in wagering on Marquez (-145) in Future Betting on Bovada. A bettor would have to invest $145 on the champ to earn a profit of $100 ($145 bet + $100 profit = $245 total return). A $10 bet on Marquez to win an incredible sixth MotoGP title would earn a $16.90 total return.
Lorenzo (+575) may offer better value in the wagering. The three-time champion, who joins Team Honda this season, is sixth on the all-time career win list with 67. A $100 bet on No. 99 would return $675 if he can win the season championship ($100 bet + $575 profit = $675 total return).
Race to the Championship
Can any other rider dethrone the king this season? Of course. In sports, upsets happen every day. But, if history is any indication, Marc Marquez (-145) will continue his reign on the MotoGP circuit.
Marquez, who became the youngest title winner ever in 2013 at age 20, is just three season championships away from Giacomo Agostini’s all-time mark of eight.
“Marc is like (tennis superstar Rafael) Nadal: a man that never gives up, that takes risks and that gives it his all, like when he beat Roger Federer at Wimbledon (in 2008) on theoretically not his best surface,” Santi Hernandez, the crew chief for Marquez, said last season.
Marquez didn’t reach the winner’s circle until the third event last season. He has won under the lights in Qatar twice and will look to surge to the top of the standings early in the season.
Valentino Rossi, who ruled this circuit from 2001 to 2009, finished third overall last year. Rossi (+900) is the only rider in the history of the World Championship to have won in four different classes. He looks to regain his championship form in 2019.
