As we discussed above, it’s a surprise that this is the case, but we just don’t see a pitcher going in the Top 10. As things stand, it pretty much feels like a foregone conclusion that Jones will be taken No. 1. Should that happen, who will be the No. 2 pick in the MLB Draft? With the Arizona Diamondbacks picking second, it’s no secret that this team is looking for a shortstop of the future. They need someone to man the middle of the infield and do so in style for several years.
So, who will that be? Luckily for the D-Backs, there’s two great options who should be available for them: Jackson Holliday and Brooks Lee. The thing about Lee that plenty of MLB experts like is that he’s already got the college experience, having been a star for Cal Poly. Holliday is a great talent, but he just finished his high school career and will take a little longer to develop his game.
This will make things a bit tricky for the Diamondbacks when it comes time to make a decision, but they really can’t go wrong in this case. The odds for who Arizona will take haven’t been released yet either, but if we had to make a decision on who they’ll take, we’re going to go with Holliday. He’s simply that good of a player and would be a great fit for this team down the road.
