Fabio Quartararo could be headed to an inevitable World Title. His numbers were around Even a month ago and now stand at -500. There is something about how Quartararo has carried himself since the tour has returned to Europe. Now, he still takes risks and lots of them. However, they all appear to be mostly paying off.
Last year, the Frenchman broke through and accumulated 278 points on his way to his first MotoGP World Championship. The 2020 season revealed the potential beginning of this “domination”. Quartararo showed he could hang with the best riders and won three out of the 14 races. Going into 2021, the rider stood to be a force in the sport. Five wins and ten podiums later brought Quartararo the sweet triumph he had been chasing.
Some experts believed the 2021 triumph at 22 was a bit suspect. Quartararo struggled out of the gates in 2022 which lent some credence to the claims. After the return to Europe after a globe-trotting tour, the now 23-year-old stamped his authority on the circuit and showed that he would not be denied. Not only that, the Frenchman lengthened his leads and hence shortened his numbers to repeat as “World Champion”.

As a matter of fact, the Spanish biker never finished a season above seventh. His win at Argentina was Espargaro’s first career win on the circuit after starting on the Ducati team in 2009. That is a lot of races over almost 13 seasons. He feels the gap is not much but it is widening.
These past six races have revealed one thing. When Quartararo is on his game, he is the class of the circuit. Espargaro produces tons of consistent results but during the second half, he needs more speed and more wins. A few poor finishes from the Frenchman would not hurt either. The problem is can the Aprilla pits find that extra speed? So far, between that and the risks, Espargaro may not have enough in the tank.
With that mouthful, the Spanish biker has the goods to compete. This is because, unlike most of the other contenders, Espargaro can stay in races and will not make those critical mistakes like the Italians. However, making the best of dangerous choices may eventually cost the Spanish biker. At some point, that will become the only way to catch up. Espargaro has slight value in the MotoGP Future Picks.
Again, there are some other names to take a look at for this year’s MotoGP World Title race. One has to consider the Italians. Francesco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini can rack up wins quickly but DNFs and poor results have hurt their chances immensely. Bastianini won three times but is 72 points behind while Bagnaia has won twice but is 91 points back of Quartararo.
Both bikers have seen their numbers lengthen a good bit. Bagnaia went from +400 to +750 while Bastianini dropped from +800 to +1400. Bastianini is the true high-risk, high-reward racer but in the last few weeks, that way of racing has only caused more pain than ecstasy. Then, there is Johann Zarco who has improved almost every race (back in Europe). He has five top-fives and two seconds in the last six. He almost beat Quartararo in Germany.
That being said, Zarco is worth a gander at +1100. However, Bastianini has the ability to rack up wins late in the season and is worth a shot.
