2022 Canada Grand Prix Preview
As we preview the 2022 Canada Grand Prix, something jumped out at us when observing the aforementioned odds: no one is even near Max Verstappen as the race favorite. With his -120 line to win, the next-closest driver near Verstappen is teammate, Sergio Perez, who is only +275. Oddsmakers at popular Las Vegas sportsbooks have seemingly soured on Charles Leclerc, who is far out as +300 (more on him later).
Verstappen has certainly opened up a lead in the world title hunt. He’s up to 150 points on the season — 21 ahead of Perez and 34 past Leclerc. Verstappen’s win at Azerbaijani last week marked his fourth in the past five events.
The last time a race was held here at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Lewis Hamilton won it. He infamously beat out Sebastian Vettel (back when he was on Ferrari) after the latter was penalized with time for improperly rejoining the track. That race feels like an eternity ago given how much the sport has changed in three years’ time. Though, Hamilton’s seven career wins at the event are tied for most all-time.

Stay On Verstappen To Win
There’s really nothing we can say about Verstappen that you don’t already know: he’s largely dominated the 2022 season outside of a two-race retirement early in the year. Besides that? Verstappen has won every race that he’s finished this year outside of one (Monaco, where he placed on the podium nonetheless). The Dutchman is entering must-bet territory every single week.
It’s sort of hard to believe Verstappen once trailed the title standings by 46 points — and he’s made up that and then some. It’s a testament to his dominant 2022 run, which is outpacing his 2021 performance. He’s a no-brainer bet to win in Canada.
Fade Leclerc In The Race
We’ve had it with Ferrari — and likely so has Leclerc. Despite dominating during qualifying regularly, none of that has translated on race days as of late for Leclerc. Then again, little of that has been his fault. In the past three events, Leclerc has had two DNFs due to car issues and another errored pit stop that dropped him from first to fourth place overall. He can’t catch a break and he’s skip-material when it comes to the actual race betting.
Though, as we said, Leclerc has been a consistent performer in qualifying. There’s a prop bet on who takes the pole position and he’s definitely worth a look there (in fact, Leclerc is the actual -150 favorite here). Our fading advice applies only to the actual Grand Prix.
George Russell Will Podium

Amazingly, Russell has finished top-5 in every single race this season. Every one! That’s a level of consistency found nowhere else in the sport. He’s muscled himself into the podium on three occasions, including last time out. We’re betting it happens here again. We mean, Russell is almost a lock to be in contention so the chances to creep up into top-3 are there. He’s seemingly getting better as the season wears on too which only boosts our confidence here.

The good news is the Canada Grand Prix is on TV at a reasonable time for those inside the United States. That’s hardly the case due to the time-done differences in the country and Europe or the Middle East, where most of the F1 races are held. But this time around, the race is scheduled for 2 pm EST sharp.
