With the Major League Baseball season continuing to heat up, fans are tuned into each contest that goes down. The races for division titles are heading up left and right. With that said, there are some huge contests on the way and we’ve got MLB picks for the biggest games this weekend. Which teams will come out on top with the matchups on Saturday, June 18?
Yankees should take care of business against the Blue Jays
On Saturday, there’s a massive matchup in the AL East between New York and Toronto. In this case, the Yankees should take care of business against the Blue Jays when they face off. While the MLB odds are yet to be released in this one, the Yankees have had the Blue Jays’ number this year and things should continue in that direction this weekend in a key game on Saturday.
This game is all set to be played at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, which might make you think that the Blue Jays should take care of business. However, regardless of if they’re playing in the Bronx or not, New York has been sensational this year and they’ve been tough to beat. Despite Toronto being the favorites to win the AL East entering the season, the Yankees have taken over that honor.
As of this writing, the Yankees have posted a sensational 45-16 record and they’re nine games ahead of the Blue Jays in the standings. As of now, it really does feel like New York is going to be able to run away with the division title. It would take a miracle for Toronto to catch up to them, while Boston and Tampa Bay also need to go on a serious run to make things interesting.
The Blue Jays have plenty of exciting players on their team, but they don’t match the likes of Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Gerrit Cole and more. With all of that said, there will be pressure on the Yankees to come away with a win on Saturday against Toronto. While this could end up being a close contest, we’re going with the Yankees as our pick to record the victory. Agree? Check out our best sportsbooks to get a wager in.
The Mariners will hope to take down the Angels
In another exciting matchup over in the American League, the Mariners will hope to take down the Angels at T-Mobile Park in the Pacific Northwest. Both these teams haven’t quite lived up to the hype this year, but they’re hoping they can turn things around and make some noise in the division. This only adds to more intrigue for their matchup on Saturday night.
The Angels are led by the likes of Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani is a stud at the plate and he’s also making noise on the bump for this team too. Because of his abilities, Ohtani is right in the AL MVP race hunt, as he holds the No. 2 MLB odds in that department. Ohtani is behind Judge with those numbers, and it will be a close race the rest of the way.
Meanwhile, for the Mariners, this team is hoping to get to the MLB postseason for the first time since 2001, but they’re currently under .500 which no one expected. In order for Seattle to get back on track, their bats have to wake up and fast. They’ll have a great chance to do just that on Saturday going up against the Angels. Will that happen?
Plenty of eyes will be on guys like Ty France, Eugenio Suarez and of course Julio Rodriguez. Rodriguez is one of the best rookies in the MLB and he’s been playing well of late. It will be on J-Rod to try and keep things going against LA. Saturday’s game should be a close one, but we’re going with the Mariners to win. Yup, Seattle is our pick in this case.
In another fun matchup, people are wondering will the Cubs be able to take down the Braves? This meeting will take place at Wrigley Field and it’s going to be an incredible experience for everyone who makes their way over. Wrigley Field is always a fun spot to be at for a game and things are only going to be better for a Saturday night matchup against the reigning World Series champs.
Chicago will certainly have its hands full in trying to come out on top, though, as Atlanta has a sensational lineup. This of course includes Robert Acuña Jr, Matt Olson and many more. Chicago will hope to make a splash here, though, as Willson Contreras and others aren’t going to be scared to try and hang with a powerhouse like Atlanta. Not at all.
This has the makings of a fun battle, and again, it will be even more on because it’s going down on a Saturday night. People might think that Atlanta will head to Chicago and cruise to a victory, but we just don’t see that happening. Instead, we think the Cubs will not only make things interesting, but they’ll also be able to come away with the win here too. The Cubs are our pick.
