The Masters started on Thursday, but that doesn’t mean bettors can’t still get great odds for golfers to win this prestigious event.

Sunjae Im, the 24-year-old South Korean, is starting off the Masters on the right foot. He is the leader after day one after an impressive start.
Im started with three birdies, rallied from a pair of bogeys on the 13th with a 12-foot eagle putt, then finished with a late birdie for a 5-under 67 and a one-shot lead after the Masters’ first round on Thursday.
Wildly enough, he is the first player that has ever represented South Korea to ever hold the lead after any round in the history of the Masters.
Smith finished one shot behind Im, and wasn’t pleased with his performance.
Speaking with the media after his rounds, Smith had this to say:
“I’ve moved on already,”
“The less you guys bring it up, the quicker I’ll forget about it. I’m done with it. I think the stuff in between was really nice, and [I’ll] just take the positives out of it.
“I feel like I played some really solid golf today, and to be four under is a little bit disappointing.
“But given the condition of the golf course, and the condition with the wind and stuff like that, if you had given me four-under at the start of the day, I would have taken it.”
Although finishing four under isn’t necessarily the worst thing in the world, a golfer of his caliber is always looking to be the best. He is still, however, only one shot behind the first place Im, leading him to have still a great chance of winning the event.
Danny Willett finished the day at -3, which shocked many. Considering that he is still +5000 odds on the books, it’s evident that people don’t think he can keep up this type of play.
Willett won the Masters in 2016, but his performance ever since hasn’t been one that he’s going to want to remember. However, this could be a step in the right direction for him as he tries to win the event once again.
Willett has played nine events on the PGA Tour this season with only one top-25 finish.
Joaquin Niemann came into the event as someone who many thought had an outside chance of winning the event.
If the first day was any indication of what he’s going to be able to accomplish, bettors who placed bets on him have to feel confident going forward.
Niemann has been one of the top golfers for the past few years, including being ranked the number one amateur golfer from May 2017 to April 2018.
The one thing that could hold him back? His age, Niemann is only 23, leading him to not have as much experience in the Masters as others.
Scottie Scheffler was one of the favorites to win the event coming into it, and will still be third in terms of odds after day one. He will have +700 odds after day one to win the event.
Similar to guys like Cameron Smith and Dustin Johnson, Scheffler feels he could have played much better despite only being two shots behind first place.
When considering that the 25-year-old is already the number one ranked golfer in the world, adding a Masters trophy to his resume would only make his work even more impressive.
Scheffler has finished inside the top 20 in both of his Masters’ appearances and in 2021 posted top 10s in the U.S. Open, the PGA Championship, and The Open.
Dustin Johnson, the 2020 Master Tournament champion started the event off by staying afloat.
Considering that he won the Masters two years ago, him not being in first after day one shouldn’t concern him too much.
He had a tough day and blamed the wind for struglling.
“It was the wind. That’s what made it tricky. It was real gusty. Sometimes, especially around here, it’s really hard to get a beat on if you get a lot of crosswinds,”
The best bet for the Masters is going to be taking Dustin Johnson to win the event. He’s going to have +600 at BetNow, and although that is going to be the second-best odds of the event, it’s still going to offer us plenty of value.
Considering that he had a below-average day on Thursday and was still able to finish in 3rd place tie with a few other golfers, bettors should feel confident in putting money on him.
There is a reason why he is arguably the best golfer in the world, and I fully expect him to be able to get back on track throughout the remainder of the tournament and do his normal thing, which is winning.
