The biggest names in world tennis are all lined up to play in California this week, so it’s time for our 2022 Indian Wells Betting Picks.
Rafa Nadal, Novak Djokovic (now withdrawn), and new world number one Daniil Medvedev are the front runners in the betting.
But as Cameron Norrie of Great Britain showed by winning last year’s event, the big-name stars aren’t guaranteed anything in this competition.
2022 Indian Wells Winner Betting Odds
On Wednesday, we finally got the news that former world number one, Novak Djokovic won’t be taking part in the competition. It won’t come as a huge shock, and why it was left to this late stage to announce it is strange.
Anyway, Djokovic has gone, and it has obviously had an immediate effect on the outright winner betting.
In the latest Tennis betting odds, Rafa Nadal is the +275 favorite to win the competition. Djokovic was the +200 favorite, but has withdrawn due to his covid status. The odds below have been gathered from all the best tennis betting sites:
Next in the betting is Daniil Medvedev, both at +300. With Djokovic not playing, all of a sudden the +600 on Alexander Zverev and the +900 on Stefanos Tsitsipas look a lot more appealing.
How To Bet On Indian Wells
The official title of the tennis competition at Indian Wells is the BNP Paribas Open, and it is the first of nine ATP Masters 1000 tournaments on the men’s schedule.
The event is held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden and is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious titles outside of the four Grand Slam events.
What; BNP Paribas Open
Where; Indian Wells, California, USA
When; Thursday, March 10th – Sunday, March 20th
Tennis has so many different markets to bet on. You can bet long-term on who will win the tournament, and you can also bet on individual match outcomes, like match winner, or total sets.
It’s in play that tennis betting excels though. You can bet on who wins the next set, or the winner of the next game, and you can even bet on the outcome of the next point.
A great way to bet on tennis or any other sport is by using other people’s money. So why not check out our Las Vegas Sportsbooks page, where you will find hundreds of dollars worth of betting bonuses.
These offers can be used to bet on the Indian Wells competition, as well as any future tennis events.
2022 Indian Wells Betting Picks
Rafa Nadal
2022 has seen Rafael Nadal make his best start to a year. So far this calendar year, Nadal has played in three competitions, winning all three of them.
He started the year by winning the Melbourne Tournament, a warm-up event before the Australian Open. He followed that up by winning his 21st grand slam at the Australian Open and then won the Mexican Open just for good measure.
Even though the Spaniard is on the best run of his life, he is only human. Following all that up with another victory at Indian Wells will be a hard task.
At 35, there is only so much his body can cope with. Nadal could win this, but I just think he’s due a defeat somewhere here.

Daniil Medvedev
This should be one of the highlights of Medvedev’s career. He has just become the new world number one ranked player and should be entering the competition on a high.
Unfortunately for the Russian, events beyond his control have led to him not being able to compete under the colors of his national flag. Medvedev will instead be represented by a white rectangle.
Sports stars at the top of their profession do have an innate ability to not let outside distractions put them off their game. But with all that is going on at the moment, it’s hard to know just what frame of mind Medvedev is in, going into this competition.
He lost the final of the Australian Open to Nadal in an epic encounter and was knocked out of the Mexican Open at the semi-final stage by the same man. I don’t see Medvedev winning here either.
Djokovic was my original pick, but as he’s not playing I have to go for Plan B. And in his place, I’m going for the hot-headed young German, Alexander Zverev.
The German is fortunate not to be banned after hitting the Umpire’s chair with his racket at the Mexico Open, and it would be just like him to go and win at Indian Wells.
The suspended sentence he received for the incident in Mexico has been widely condemned. It did seem very lenient to me, and I can understand the criticism leveled at it.
Nevertheless, the German is in the draw, and I’m sure he will want to prove a point. At +600, Zverev is good value, and therefore I make him my betting pick to win the 2022 Indian Wells Master series.
